Wallpaper Removal in Clinton

More Than 30 Years of Wall Preparation, Repair & Finishing

We treat wallpaper removal as the first step toward a properly finished room, not as a strip-and-go service. Based in Clinton, All Trades Contracting brings more than 30 years of hands-on painting, remodeling, and construction experience to walls that may need adhesive removal, repairs, priming, or a new finish.

Our painters work alongside in-house carpenters, licensed trades, and a dedicated design staff. This broader capability matters when old wallcoverings conceal damaged drywall, uneven plaster, or other problems that require more than a fresh coat of paint.

Call (908) 364-9900 to discuss your walls, your plans for the room, and the right scope for your project.

One Team From Site Preparation to Final Finish

Removing wallpaper can affect more than the visible surface. Our fully licensed and insured team coordinates site preparation, scheduling, material selections, and related remodeling work through one point of contact. You’ll receive regular check-ins and written updates covering upcoming work, selections, and any change orders.

Daily cleanup is part of the job. Clients consistently report that our crews vacuumed and wiped down work areas at the end of each day, then secured their homes before leaving. We also follow up after completion to confirm that the finished work meets their expectations.

This approach has helped All Trades Contracting earn a 4.9 out of 5 overall rating on Houzz across verified homeowner reviews.

Choosing the Right Removal Method for Your Walls

The right method depends on the wallcovering, its age, the adhesive, and the surface underneath. Common approaches include dry stripping, wallpaper steaming, and soaking and scraping. Because vinyl-coated wallpaper is nonporous, it may need to be scored with small perforations that allow moisture or stripping solution to reach the adhesive.

Drywall vs. Plaster Walls

Drywall absorbs water and can tear or soften when oversaturated or scraped too aggressively. Plaster generally tolerates more moisture, but cracks, loose areas, and previous repairs still require careful handling. We account for the underlying material before choosing a removal and preparation method.

Adhesive Residue & Surface Repairs

Taking down the paper doesn’t necessarily leave a paint-ready surface. Paste residue, torn drywall facing, dents, and uneven patches often need attention before the next finish can be applied.

Depending on the wall’s condition, preparation may include:

  • Removing adhesive residue from the exposed surface.
  • Patching gouges, holes, cracks, or damaged drywall paper.
  • Applying a skim coat, a thin layer of joint compound that creates a smoother surface.
  • Sanding repaired areas to minimize visible ridges and transitions.
  • Priming before applying paint or another wallcovering.

Coordinate Removal, Repair & Repainting

A do-it-yourself project can become time-consuming when paper separates into small pieces or the adhesive won’t release. Excess moisture, aggressive scraping, and the wrong tools can gouge drywall and create additional work. A weekend project can quickly grow to include patching, sanding, wall priming, and interior repainting.

We coordinate each stage as one defined scope, so you don’t have to schedule separate contractors and visits. If the work is part of a larger room remodel, the surrounding construction and finishing stay with the same team.

Choose the Next Finish at Our Clinton Showroom

Our showroom gives you a physical place to plan what comes after the old wallpaper. You can compare paints with cabinets, counters, tile, flooring, and fixtures while considering durability, maintenance, and lead times before ordering materials. It’s particularly useful when an accent wall or new paint color must coordinate with a kitchen, bathroom, or living area.

Designer Gail Benz brings more than 25 years of design experience. Edith Farinhas, a graduate of the International Fine Arts College of Miami, brings more than 30 years of kitchen and bath design experience. Together, our design staff can connect the new wall finish to the room as a whole instead of treating it as an isolated choice.

Build a Clear, Budget-Conscious Plan for Your Walls

Tell us what you want removed and how you envision the finished room. We can assess the existing wallcovering, discuss likely preparation and repair needs, and outline a coordinated path to paint, a new wallcovering, or a larger interior update.

We consider your priorities and budget before work begins. Owner Raymond Ferraro has a track record of identifying practical savings so clients can direct more of their budget toward the features that matter most to them.
